Allahabad: Senior BJP leader and former union minister Murli Manohar Joshi has exhorted the people to unite for preserving Indian culture and traditions saying it was facing threat from all corners.
Addressing a gathering of party workers and supporters on his 73rd birthday celebration here on Thursday evening, Joshi said certain parties were playing politics in the name of caste and religion, which posed a great challenge to the country's unity and integrity.
''Hinduism is not a religion, but a tradition and pattern of thoughts...every citizen living in this country is a Hindu.'' The BJP leader maintained he was against reservation on the basis of religion. ''Former prime minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh divided the society by implementing the Mandal Commission Report.''
On the recent issue of the alleged mixing of bones in Ayurvedic concoctions by Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev, Joshi claimed a tirade had been launched to defame Ayurveda and Yoga at the behest of the MNCs for their vested business interest."
